Location
Rushel Kivu Resort is located in Rwanda, the heart of Africa, in the Western Province along the beautiful shores of Lake Kivu in Rutsiro District.
The resort is conveniently situated between Rubavu District (Gisenyi) and Karongi District (Kibuye)
There are 3 main ways to reach Rushel:
1. By Road
Guests can reach Rushel with a 4x4 tall car from Kigali, by passing Gisenyi or Kibuye routes from Kigali - (NOT reaching the cities):
GISENYI / RUBAVU: Before reaching the city, you turn left on PFUNDA TEA FACTORY, heading into Rutsiro towards Karongi (Kibuye). After about 1 hour of road, passing by GISHWATI forest, you reach a small center called NKOMERO, where you turn right. You will see road signs of RUSHEL KIVU RESORT. There is 10 KM road to reach Rushel, which takes about 25 minutes to 40 minutes depending on the driver speed. (Please read road signs carefully)
KIBUYE / KARONGI: Before reaching the city, you turn right at the round about in RUBENGERA city, heading into Rutsiro towards RUBAVU (Gisenyi). After about 40 minutes - 1 hour of road, passing by RUTSIRO district, you reach a small center called NKOMERO, where you turn left. You will see road signs of RUSHEL KIVU RESORT. There is 10 KM road to reach Rushel, which takes about 25 minutes to 40 minutes depending on the driver speed. (Please read road signs carefully)
KIGALI - NKOMERO: You can take Kivu Belt Bus from Kigali that go directly to NKOMERO center. And then when you reach there the easiest way is to take Motorbikes to Rushel that charge 3,000 RWF.
2. By Boat
Guests can travel to Gisenyi and park at Nirvana Hotel or Paradis Malahide hotel, or travel to Kibuye and park at EDEN Golf Hotel (lower parking). We then send a private boat for pick up. We have two types of boats:

A fast boat that can take 6 people, about 30-40 minutes ride.

A lake boat that can take 10 people, about 1h - 1h20 minutes.
